On my laptops keyboard (QWERTY) there are some ridges on the F and J buttons, what are they for? (Correction)?

When I was in academy, our woman professor would explain that the purpose of the ridge is for positioning your hand correctly astatine the home keys. She would marker the ridge as the nipples of the typewriter similar to the center nipple of a calculator.
