Once I turn on the laptop the LCD light comes on for 16 seconds and then goes off. What's can be wrong?

it may Be that the harddrive or processor don't work. it could too be that the motherboard got fried because this happened to my oldish top. when you turn it on try active to the bios menu or keep hitting f8. if neither of these work then it might be dead eternally.
