What can be the possible be damaged in my laptop when a plaque of coffee is poured on the top of my upright?

I was surfing in the internet while intake my coffee. after it was accidentally poured on my laptop[ upright. I tested to bring it to a technician. they said is motherboard defective and the other technician says that it is only no power/no display because of it. Present I would like to know which one is true?
