Why is my laptop's keyboard completely unresponsive?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and my keyboard is completely not working. The mousepad is fine but all the letters are not responding. I have tried rebooting it several times and nothing changes. My computer claims the the keyboard is working properly but that's obviously not the case. Pleasssee help if yu can. I have a paper due tomorrow :-(
