Cannot get either of my external hard drives to work on any computer or laptop?

same thing happened to me go to my go to command panel after my system at the top go into hardware then device manager mine says ide/sata controllers click on this if you get a ashen triangle or a yellow question mark get in it and see if the drivers are recognising it you m
ay have to uninstall then reinstall the drivers hope this helps PS im connected xp
