How observe I get my pics from my old tower to my untried laptop?

I have an weak emachine that I cannot draw from online with. When I tried a newer thumb thrust it wouldn't recognize a driver. I need to transfer my pictures from old to new. Is there a cord or a way to pull out the hard drive from the tower to get them onto my laptop?
