How difficult is it to upgrade parts in a laptop?

I have a pretty new Sony Vaio (F series). It's got nice specs, but not quite good enough to run games like Battlefield 3 on the specs I want. I've built desktops and had extensive experience with that, but never much with laptop hardware. Is it difficult, or even possible to upgrade processor and/or artwork card in a laptop?
