Your problem is either the inverter (most apparent.. 95% chance) or the Cold Cathode Tube lighting the screen (less likely... 5%).
If it is the Unheated Electrode Vessel, then you need a new peak, because you're far more apt to get a face full of Metal Vapor testing to replace one of those toothpick thin bulbs. That is why if you brought it to a shop to replace the stem, they would refuse, and only offer to replace the the entire screen. But the chances that it is the bulb are really low.
Now, CCT inverters (they change the DC power to AC power for the bulb) go bad. Sometimes a small impact is all it takes. Sometimes they just go bad because of time. Sometimes they go bad, because they go bad. They are not all that expensive, and they are not difficult to renew. Ok, sure, some model laptops brand you eliminate the screen to wrench the inverter off the bracket at the bottom, other models allow you to shift the inverter while leaving the eyeshade in put.... but the allure here is that ALL model laptops let you to hook up a new inverter without removing the old one. You just unplug the ripened one and stoppage the new one within, and try it.
True, now, you have to insight an inverter for your make and model laptop... which you didnt see fit to include here so I can't find one for you. Order it, and testing it. You will find that unless you dropped your laptop and you aren't telling ME, that this solves your issues.
end of line
