That could be because VGA does not support nowhere near HD quality picture. However, you should not have such big worries. I had anile laptop connected to my 50" Samsung with not major picture artifacts. Do you've the best resolution budding?
720p TV = 1366x768
1080p TUBE = 1920x1080
Also you VGA cable could be tough...
