Most laptops become obsolete much earlier than 5 years anyways. However, I do agree beside you that the i3 processor is too thin. Whether you don't need a laptop immediately, I would suggest waiting. Computers are constantly being upgraded with better specs so you'll eventually find what you're looking for.
Also, just a side note, the Nvidia 310m is truly a pretty shaky card for play. It probably would not last you 5 years depending on what you plan by playing, but it definitely cannot play much modern games.
