However can you recount the difference between a SATA hard drive and others (IDE)?

I want to put AN enclosure on it, only I dont know how to tell the difference. The hard drive can retired of my overaged laptop, and has pins on it. One row of pins does not have 1 pin in the middle (made like that by manufacture)
