You should metal able to use a regular VGA cable. Hopefully your laptop can do 1080p. I have one that does beside VGA, but an older one with limited common video PUSH can only do 1360x1360 maximum, so for that i 1360x768 is the best that it module do.

A simple VGA to HDMI adapter or cable will NOT work, because VGA is analog only and HDMI is digital only. So if you required to execute that, you would need a VGA to HDMI "converter" (at higher cost).
