what do i do when the grounding prong on my laptop charger broke off in the socket ?

replace it .. the ground prong completes the circuit and allows the electricity (which is moving in a circle continuously) to safely exit the computer and go back to your house ground .. without it .. the electricity will find another way to ground itself .. which may very well be thru you! ..

so buy a new one ;]
