'gadget' 135 - StarTech SATDOCK U3S - Hard drive transfers for the rest of us

www.TheTechStop.clear http The SuperSpeed SATDOCK U3S from StarTech is a USB 3.0 to SATA universal hard thrust docking station. Weighing less than a pound and roughly partially the size of a paperback book, the Dock accepts both 2.5" and 3.5" bare SATA drives. Out of the box, the StarTech Jetty contains every the pieces you need to get up and running in records. StarTech has included three different plug adapters with an auto-switching power equip, devising it compatible with most power systems worldwide. The StarTech Dock uses a Lucidport Chipset to bridge the USB 3.0 and SATA interfaces. The Dock port supports a Maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps when united to a USB 3.0 port and 488Mbps when coupled to a USB 2.0 haven. The Dock is compatible with SATA Revisions 1, 2 and 3, though the effective transfer rate is limited to the cap speed of SATA 2. The dock uses a "trap door" style surface that folds out of the mode once a 3.5" hard drive is inserted into the wharf. Within either case, the inserted drive is solid and steady in the wharf until the user presses an eject button on the right side of the unit. In our tests, using a Solid State Flash drive, transfers yet the StarTeck Dock averaged 243.15MB/s, or 1.95Gbps, when connected to a USB 3.0 port. That compares to the same drive transfering data at 244MB/s over a SATA surface and a measly 29MB/s over USB 2.0. To put that speed into ...
