Closing the laptop screen OR pulling out the partition command on my laptop causes it to bang?

It used to be only a problem with closing the laptop screen. I would close it and when I would reopen, the power lights were on just nothing on the screen and no response to any keystrokes. I disabled all the settings that could possibly grounds this. Now the problem extends to removing the wall power. Any advice would Be appreciated.
