How do i know whether my motherboard has died?

I purchased an Ebay laptop, and it worked first couple of times i utilised it.

Merely then it wouldn't begin up.

When i estate the power button, all the lights come on, and the fans discharge up simply they just keep moving and nix else happens, nothing happens to the screen either but i cognise that isn't gone.

Is it possible to self examine, or is it a shop job?
