sony vaio pcg-3c2l laptop computer
the hard drive makes a VERY loud grinding/winding noise, during any loading. ive been told to brace myself for a failed laptop anytime. (surprisingly its lasted a couple months this channel..but gotten worse)
what are the exact steps to replacing it? go into the laptop, unscrew it, remove ancient HD, insert new HD..and then what? i have a windows xp home edition disc that i use for my desktop ocmputer whenever i reformat, can i just stick that in the laptop? vista is resource heavy anyway (thats whats on the laptop)
i was reading one site saying i need an operating restore disc or some thing that came with the laptop.. i dont have that anymore.
anyway, any steps/things i need to cognise before i jump into this?
