i recently bought an external usb videodisc drive. now it says its olympian the hub haven power. what should i perform?

i just bought an external usb dvd drive all for my laptop. It was in work fine. Now whenever i plug it in, it tells me it exceeded the hub port influence. I tried troubleshooting, disconnecting and reconnecting simply still it won't work. i still have a disc in the drive and it won't work. Help! I need it to work for me. Convey you in advance for any support you might offer.
