there are yellow splotches that sometimes appear on my laptop blind?

These are strain spots. They usually go away unless you have pressed the screen next to a lot of pressure. You can exact permanent damage to the LCD past applying excessive amounts of pressure to the screen. If it doesn't go away on it's own after you stop touching it the LCD desires to beryllium replaced.
