The weak point on any laptop (or other electronic appliance with associate adaptor) is the plug. I've never understood why laptops do not have some sort of strain relief for the cord - I've known a lot of people whose perfectly slap-up laptops were perfectly useless because of computer companies refusal to do something as simple as that. It wouldn't glucinium that hard to rig one yourself - of late a leaf of canal tape would do the trick to keep your cord from falling out connected your current machine.
Apple actually did the right thing - their adaptors are magnetic, so provided you tread the cord or yank by it, it just pops off, no damage done. I'm firm they have their own problems too though.
