Recently upgraded laptop memory from 512MB to 1.5GB but still laptop and HD gets very hot?

Sounds more like the CPU heatsink fell off, so it running high speed to activity to work, but not cooling it as it's not in good contact.
Contact SONY support to get them to check the machine out.
